Serve Day, June 28

Published on Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Just a reminder that Serve Day is this Sunday. Instead of attending a church service at Mountain Park School, we’ll provide service to our neighbors. Please be praying for all of the churches and their people that are participating. Pray, too, for the people that will be served throughout the day, that God will speak to their hearts as His people meet some of their physical needs.

If you haven’t signed up for a project yet, please do so as soon as possible. Go to serveday.ca to find a list of the projects and to sign up. Once you have signed up for a project, the group leader will contact you with specific information - address, time, etc. - about your project.

Not sure what to do? Two projects in our area in need of volunteers. The first is listed as “Landscaping and painting a fence” in Douglas dale/Douglas glen. The second is listed as “Weeding yard and staining fence & deck in Cranston.” Both could be family friendly and build some great connections within our area. If we do not have volunteers for these projects, it is likely that they will have to be cancelled. Please consider being a part of blessing the lives of these two families.

You may have noticed when you signed up that there is a BBQ and rally for all participants on Sunday night at Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church, 1509 Lake Ontario Drive. The BBQ will begin at 4:30 pm. Make sure you make note of your attendance when you sign up for your projects so the organizers can have an indication of numbers as they prepare. Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of food. Please bring your lawn chairs as we are expecting a full house!

It would be great for us to share our experiences at Journey. Please take your cameras and take some pictures during the day. You can send them to stacey@journeychurch.ca following the weekend.

Just a few reminders…

Just a few reminders…

For the safety of your children and to maintain good relationships with the school we call home, we ask that the auxiliary gym (the smaller gym off the main gym) and the upstairs areas not be used during our Sunday mornings.

Journey’s bouncing castle is available for rent for the low rate of $50 per day. Contact Fred and Tasha Best (tfbest@shaw.ca) to book.

Summer Schedule

Published on Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Summer Schedule

During the summer we “switch things up” in Journey Kids. Programming takes on a bit of a new flavor and our preschool and elementary Journey Kids get to meet together for the whole morning!

It also looks a little different from a volunteering perspective as many of our volunteers that serve from September to June take a much-deserved holiday. We will need a minimum of 4 volunteers for each Sunday morning in order to be able to serve our kids in a safe and fun way so if you are able to help at all, please let me know. It is also a fun way to get a sneak peak of what happens in Journey kids if you are in any way interested in serving on a more regular basis. Curriculum will be provided. If you are available to be a part of Journey kids this summer, please let me know as soon as possible.

Family Service

Family Services

Families are important to Journey. That’s why we try to give a few opportunities each season for families to all worship together. Journey Kids (preschool and elementary aged) will be joining the larger church family for services on July 5, 2009**.

** The nursery room will be open and available for children infant to age 2 to be accompanied by their parents. Feel free to use that space as needed.
